WHO I AM
HI! My name is Montel Caruthers. I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and I love sports, art, dance, diverse cultures, and all things food. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design at Iowa State University, and my Master's degree in Graphic Design specializing in brand development and the relationship between a brand and its products. I am currently employed as an Industrial Designer at Insight 2 Design in Overland Park, KS where I am fulfilling my career goal of making meaningful lives and lasting experiences through design.
WHY I DESIGN
I believe that design holds a unique opportunity to create desirable experiences through multiple tangible means. Design can reach from the largest global challenge to the smallest detail of a feature or interaction, all while very importantly connecting and representing unique cultures, values, and people. I am extremely excited about work that adds value to person-product experiences, along with making our everyday objects more desirable, connected, relatable, and functional. I hope to contribute to a team, brand, or customer who is just as passionate about people, design, and new possibilities.
WHAT I DESIGN
I am trained in designing both products and graphics for a variety of design outcomes. I am experienced in designing print material, packaging, branding and logos, digital interfaces, and user experience research and development. I can design any product, hard or soft goods, and provide a user-centered and holistic approach to design contexts, user needs, user capabilities, and manufacturing specifications. I care especially for the brand relationship between all stakeholders and the provided product service. People are my passion, and I strive to provide the highest value outcome to everyone involved throughout the entirety of the product life cycle. To me, all designs must be fun, intentional, approachable, relatable, value-added, functional, and sustainable. Improving the quality of life through a graphic, product, experience, or service is the measure of success.
